Hi how long after a break in chemo may cities start again? Is it always a bad sign that it has started again
Hi there and thanks for posting
I am sorry to hear about this situation and appreciate this must be a difficult time for those involved.
We have more information about ascites on the website so do take a look. As you will read sometimes chemo is given to try and control or shrink the cancer which in turn will help with any ascites.
As and when a patient takes a breaks or stops chemo for whatever reason, the time it will take for the ascites to come back will vary between patients. This will depend on how well the cancer has responded to the chemo and how quickly the cancer grows.
We would always suggest talking to the doctors and nurses directly involved as they will have a better understanding of the situation and what is likely to happen.
I hope this helps. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Best wishes
Naomi
