Skin cancer drama queen

Hey, question for anyone with any experiences with skin cancer….

I am an Aussie living in the UK for 10 years with my family. Grew up in Aus but living in uk and experiencing some Australian inconveniences by the way of skin cancer. Over ten BCCs now removed and more ins cope for removal but trying to burn off first. I feel a bit foolish being scared about skin cancer. I have 5 lesions on my face currently being treated for skin cancer but waiting to hear if they need to be cut out. I am scared. I have two kids. I grew up as a young adult with no parents. I would hate that for my kids. Am I being dramatic? I am, aren’t I ?

  • Hello miss jayne and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear you have had many bcc's over the years and are undergoing some more treatment for some just now. It is natural to be worried undergoing tests and waiting to see if the initial treatment has worked.

Unfortunately it is common that once you get 1 bcc you are at greater risk of getting another one ( or many more in your case) . However on a positive note most basal cell carcinomas are slow growing and it is incredibly rare for them to spread, so they tend to be successfully treated.

Try not to let your mind work overtime for now. As I bcc's don't tend to cause too much problems for people or affect a persons life expectancy.

    Take care

    Naomi

  • Thank you so much for your reply Naomi. That is great news and gives me peace of mind.
