Belly Ache

Good Morning, My wife has breast cancer and has started chemotherapy, I am concerned as she is experiencing sever pain. The pain is in her stomach just above the belly button. it comes in waves but never goes completely. Last night was horrific and She was crying in pain. Can you suggest what she can take for the pain. She does not have a temperature. so I have been giving her Paracetamol 2 X 500. Can she tank Ibuprofen also would Lansoprazole help. I take these for myself.

  • Hi Mrg

Just to say that the nurses here will not be back until tomorrow, if your wife is still in pain, it would be wise to ring 111 for some advice.

    Regards

    Annie

  • Dear Mr G and thankyou for your post,

I am sorry to hear about the pain that your wife has experienced and I hope that today it has settled down a bit.

If she is still in pain then do get in touch with the chemo helpline number at the hospital where she has been treated and they can advise her about medication.

As we are not involved in her care we do not have details of her medical history or know what chemotherapy she is having. if the pain is still severe they may want to see your wife.

I do hope that she feels better soon.

You are welcome to ring and chat to one of the helpline nurses if it is in regard to anything else.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    All the best,

    Catherine
