I’ve just been told due to complications I can’t receive surgery for colon cancer. This is a great shock. What next for me!? Should I seek a second opinion?

Hi FrankP and thank you for posting,
I am sorry to learn that you have colon cancer this must be a difficult time. We cannot say what is next as we are not involved in your care. The best person to discuss this with would be your team at the hospital, you can contact your colorectal specialist nurse (CNS) as they know your situation. You may need to leave a message but they should get back to you.
Treatment is planned looking at several things, the size of the tumour and how far it has spread (stage ), a person's age and whether or not they have other health conditions. If surgery cannot be done then another option such as chemotherapy may be offered, your team will be able to clarify this for you, so do have a chat with them.
If you would like to talk things through with one of our nurses you would be welcome to call. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Take care,
Jemma
