My wife has been told she has breast cancer . Her lumpectomy is 43 days from diagnosis is this normal as I read 31 days max
I have breast cancer ,iv been told that from all the biopsies, CT scans MRI they need to get the whole picture before surgery, it takes time .
They would of had current evidence if how the cancer is ,when small grows very slow ,a good sign they aren't rushing in ,as they do if original biopsy showed sign .Remember these cancer teams are seeing cancer all day every day .
Every cancer is like a thumb print ,totally individual. Going on goggles or comparing anothers cancer will just feed unesssessary fear & panic .
It's the cancer plan treatment every one is waiting on & the unknown let's out the stage 4 end of life predictions, I thought I had back cancer last night i slept wrong .
Time to build the immune system, eating resting, reducing stress not feeding stress.
I'm over 31 weeks ,do I need too worry
My cancer from tests last wk showed NOT GROWN ,as I gather we all have the same pretests before treatment.
Stop reading up in cancer you need too be well informed by wife consultant appointment's.
Now iv got that number in my head counting the days from lump found.
Tea time & stop thinking about it ,I cannot think it away ,the DRs are the only people we should listen too ref our own cancer .
Hi Archiebear and thank you for your post.
I am sorry to hear about your wife’s situation and I can appreciate the worry you have about how long she is waiting for her surgery.
In the UK there are targets for maximum waiting times to start treatment. For example no more than 31 days wait between the decision the doctor agreed the treatment plan and the start of treatment; but these targets are only guidelines.
Hospitals will do their best to meet the cancer waiting targets. Many are finding this difficult to achieve, possibly due to staff shortages and winter pressures.
While no one can give an absolute assurance that your wife’s cancer will not get worse during her wait please know that most cancers grow slowly and waiting a few weeks is unlikely to affect the overall situation.
I hope al goes well with your wife's operation.
