Covid vaccine

My husband who has just undergone radiotherapy for prostate cancer has had an appointment through to go for his Covid and flu vaccinations. It says i on line it can raise his PSA levels and he is due to go back and see his oncologist two weeks after the vaccine is due and had to have a PSA test before he goes. Should he delay the Covid vaccine ?

  • Hello jakeyboy and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about your husband's situation. I'm afraid no one here can say if he should delay having his covid/flu jabs due to him being due for a PSA. we cannot see any specific guidance on having a PSA test done after having the covid vaccination.

We would suggest checking with his specialist nurse or doctor to perhaps ask if he needs to have he can have his PSA blood test brought forward slightly, so the results are not affected.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes
