I am sorry to hear about your dad's situation and appreciate your family’s concern. It is lovely to read that you are prepared to accompany him to his appointments for his radium 223 treatment.

The main precautions are with bodily fluids rather than contact with the individual. This is because after the treatment, it is possible that some radiation may be present in urine and stools for up to 7 days. The total amount is very small and decreases each day. The medical team caring for your dad will advise him on what precautions to take.

Hull University Hospital has a patient information leaflet explaining what precautions to take around relatives and grandchildren. Maybe you could ask the team looking after your dad if they have a similar patient information leaflet.
