Mole Removal Done at home

Hi, At around 16-17 i removed a mole at home by myself with a removal kit i had this mole since childhood and decided to remove as i didn’t like the placement or look of it. It’s not been three to four years later and i am wondering if i should be concerned about the mole being cancerous and i have removed it. I have not seen any changes to that area and have not experienced any severe symptoms. The mole aswell from what i can remember and from pictures didn’t seem to have a change in appearance. So should i be worried or leave as it be as this is recently just made anxious and worried due to online information. Do i seek the GP help or is there no need and if so what would i say ? thank you

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

Just to say, it isn't advisable to try and remove moles yourself at home, as this can lead to a serious skin infection. It isn't very likely, given your young age then, that the mole you removed was abnormal. Particularly as you have had no further symptoms since then.

If this is worrying you, then make a non urgent GP appointment and explain what is concerning you. They will be able to advise and hopefully reassure you further about it.

    I hope this helps,

    Best wishes,

    Vanda
