Swelling

I'm on week 6 of chemotherapy cream

Today my eye lids top and bottom have swollen  & part of my upper check.. GP has no appointments and was told A&E but think it's not a AE problem

  • Hello Eidas

Our nurse team have now finished for the day and won't be back in the office until  9am tomorrow morning.

I'd suggest giving NHS 111 a call this evening. It may be that they're able to arrange for you to see an out-of-hours doctor to check the swelling. But if you have any concerns that the swelling is spreading, impacting your breathing or ability to talk/swallow or are generally worried, then please do seek medical attention from your local A&E department.

I hope that things settle for you soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I see that a moderator has posted a reply to you already, as unfortunately, we do not provide an out of hours service. We also cannot give specific medical advice.

It is advisable to ring NHS 111 who can assess you, and either advise for you to attend A&E, or can arrange an out of hours GP appointment for you. I am not sure who prescribed your cream. If it was a hospital team, such as dermatology, then do make contact with them as well, if you can.

I hope this improves for you soon,

    Best wishes,

    Vanda
