  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to hear that you have some symptoms a while after your lung biopsies. It can take a number of weeks for discomfort and swelling to start to subside.

Try some over the counter pharmacy painkillers, if you haven't got any. The pharmacist can advise on paracetamol, plus or minus low dose codeine, as this may help with the rib pain. Applying a cold pack or a warm wheat bag/ hot water bottle gently to the area can help relieve bruise type pain.

If you are concerned about some symptoms, then you can ring your hospital team, or ask to see your GP promptly in the next day or two, for them to assess you. Out of hours you can ring NHS 111 for advice too.

I hope that this helps, and you feel better soon,

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
