It's understandable to wonder why your dad's doctor have asked him to come in to get his results.

Some doctors prefer to discuss all results, good or bad in person. It could be that the doctor wants to ensure your dad understands the findings and what the next steps may be. If your dad needs to have further tests the doctor will explain this and your dad will be given the opportunity to ask any questions he may have.
