Hi Pippa and thank you for posting.
I am so sorry to hear about what is going on with Dad and his oesophageal cancer.
It is difficult for us to give specific information about his cancer as we are not part of his hospital team. However, this is our page on staging in oesophageal cancer. if helpful, but do ask his doctor as they can tell you more.
Someone's prognosis (how long they have to live) depends on several things, again it will be difficult for anyone to be exact. But do try and organise to talk to Dad's hospital team and they will go through it all with you if he has permitted his health information to be shared.
Take care Pippa and if you find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline the number is Freephone 0808 800 4040. The lines are open from 9 am till 5 pm, Monday to Friday.
Sarah.
Hi Pippa
Hope you are ok x I am going through the same with my Dad. He had 2 stents fitted which helped him swallow food a little better. He also has it in his stomach and was diagnosed back in May x I look after Dad at the moment, I don’t know about you but I feel I’m in some kind of bubble and also don’t have any family around. I just wanted to message you to let you know I’m thinking of you xx
Thank you so much I’m so sorry to hear about your dad too! I can’t imagine what it’s like not having any family around. I feel the same I feel like it’s still not real and dad’s just going to get better.
We have now found out he’s stage 4 I am devastated he’s my world.
Im thinking of you too xx
