Haematoma post biopsy

Hi,

I had a VAE biopsy in a breast lump at the start of June. Lucky no cancerous cells found, I have a radial scar which will now be monitored for the next 5 years.

I went back to the breast clinic at the end of July as I was still experiencing pain and the doctor noted I still had a sizeable haematoma, but this should settle without further action needed.

I still have the pretty prominent feeling haematoma, but I wondered if this seems normal after nearly 4 months post biopsy?

Thanks for your help :)

  • Hello Jules096 and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear that your haematoma has taken so long to go. From what I have read in a few cases it can sometimes take several months before the haematoma can be reabsorbed and hopefully in your case, this will happen over the next couple of months.

In the meantime I would make an appointment with your GP so they can examine the area and hopefully put your mind at rest.

    I hope this helps.

You are welcome to ring and chat to one of the nurses on the helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    All the best,

    Catherine
