Biopsies - stage 3 melanoma

Hi. I’ve recently had surgery to remove a stage 3C melanoma. I had the sentinel node scan and the lymph nodes were taken during my surgery. I was told I need preventative immunotherapy. I’ve since had another CT scan (as the previous one was over the 3month mark) . I’m booked on for my next bloods and face to face appointment. This morning, I’ve had a message with an appointment for an ultrasound guided groin biopsy.
I wasn’t told anything about this so it is a complete shock. I’m just wondering if that means the CT showed more cancer cells..

  • Hello Woodster2 and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about your situation and appreciate how receiving this appointment has panicked you.

Unfortunately no one here can say what this may mean so I would encourage you to speak with your specialist team when you can, to find out more.

It may be that an area has been highlighted on the CT scan as suspicious but until this biopsy is taken and looked at in the lab no one will be able to say for sure.

I hope you know more soon and that everything turns out okay for you.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
