I am sorry to hear about your wife's symptoms and test results appreciate how worrying this can be.

Hopefully your wife will be able to speak to a doctor today about her blood test results and what may need to happen next.

Symptoms and abnormal test results can both be caused by lots of different conditions and most of the time won't be due to cancer, so try not to over think things for now.

The ca125 marker measures inflammation in the pelvic region, whilst this can be linked to ovarian cancer it can also be raised due to cysts, fibroids, endometriosis and even periods themselves. Usually doctors use the ca125 result alongside a pelvic ultrasound and the women's menopausal status and age to calculate the risk of it being something more serious.

As I say sit tight for now and wait and see what the doctor has to say, it is reassuring that she was checked out last year and everything seemed otherwise okay then.

Hi there, thanks for this and whilst I have only just replied the tests have still be going. 

my wife was referred for another ultrasound a week last Sunday and the results came back that the endometrial thickening was 20mm. It  was 18mm in February. Demonstating multiple cystic components. 

The latest 125 result has since gone up and now

The Dr rang today to suggest an urgent gynaecologist appointment within 2-3 weeks as the CA125 is now 99.9.  Is this the 2 week path way people talk about ? 

we looked any other posts of people’s issues on here and there was no follow up so that didn’t put mind at rest 

Really worried debating if should go Private to speed up results. 

Would be happy to share screenshot with some notes to any specialists here.

I am sorry to learn of your wife's situation I can imagine this is a difficult time for you both.

The urgent referral used to mean that a person should see a specialist within two weeks. In England, this has changed recently to the 28-day faster diagnosis pathway. The target is that no one should have to wait more than 28 days from referral (to the hospital) to find out whether or not they have cancer. 

Having said this most hospitals will still try and have the first appointment (whether for investigation or to see a specialist ) within two weeks.

It is important to know that the majority of people referred on this pathway will not have cancer.

I cannot advise you whether or not to go privately, however, it might be worth waiting to see how quick your wife's appointment will be first.
