  • Hello Nicpd and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your partner.

It is difficult to talk about time lines as every hospital is slightly different. The doctors normally get the results of all the different tests and then discuss a suspected lung cancer at a meeting called an MDT. Once the patient is discussed they will then work out what the next steps are.

If he is diagnosed with lung cancer then there are various treatment options that will be discussed with him.

The MDT meetings usually happen once a week. After this meeting when they have discussed your partners case they usually get in touch to let you know the outcome.

Try if you can to take one step at a time. Hopefully you should find out in the next week or so. It does take time to get all the different tests together and a lot will depend on the work load of the pathologist (doctor who looks at the tissue under a microscope) and also how many patients there are to discuss.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes,

    Catherine
