It is normal to have moles as a baby and to develop new moles as a child or teenager. Some moles can become cancerous, but at the age of 16, this would be unusual. If you had a  mole since childhood that had not changed it is unlikely that it was a mole that was concerning. 

I was unsure if you meant you removed a mole yourself a few years ago or if it was a doctor. If in the future you do have any moles that are causing you concern, it is best to be safe and to get checked by your GP rather than remove them yourself. It must be a doctor who assesses you and refers you to a skin specialist (dermatologist) if necessary.

As you are feeling quite anxious about your mole I would get it checked by your GP so you can put your mind at rest. As you have had it so long it is unlikely to be a cause for concern but as you remain anxious it is sometimes a good idea to get that reassurance. 

Try to stay off the internet when you are worried about your health as it is very general and normally causes more anxiety.
