Peritoneal

I have had a scan at gynaecologist and now booked in for surgery on October 5th. I received a letter 2 days ago stating I have adenymiosis. On a phone consultation in August the dr said about laparoscopy for endo. This letter I received on Saturday states that I have no deep infiltrated endo and the scan was limited due to possible peritoneal disease, I’ve googled it and now panicking. Can you shed some light on what this is? I’ve had some keyboard ‘drs’ that say it’s a form of the adenymiosis but Google definitely doesn’t say that

  • Hi Aberrys and thank you for posting,

As Cancer Information Nurses we are unable to interpret reports or provide a medical opinion. The best person to discuss your scan results with would be your gynaecologist as they know your situation.

I can appreciate it can be a stressful and difficult time waiting for test results and treatment. It is important to know that 'peritoneal disease' does not mean it is cancer and could be related to the adenomyosis. Unfortunately,  searching on Google cannot tell you what your situation is.

I don't know if it is possible to speak with the gynaecologist before your operation, or perhaps you could have a chat with your GP and ask them to clarify what the scan report is saying and what this means for you .

Take care, please get back to us if you need any more information or support.
