Uterus biopsy was incredibly painful

I’ll keep it short, yesterday at an app with a gynaecology oncologist  he said he needed to do a biopsy there and then. He said it may cramp a little but the pain was so bad I screamed and almost threw up. I was shocked and traumatised by the pain.
The point of this post however is to ask the question that as the biopsy was so painful does the likelihood that it is indeed ovarian cancer get very high?
I have all related symptoms although a trans vag scan came back clear as did a blood test. I’m happy to give more info if needed, I just didn’t want to waffle on.

  • Hello Brightongirl and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your situation.

This can be an  uncomfortable procedure. People also  have different pain thresholds. I don't think it has any bearing on whether you are more likely or not to have cancer so try not to read to much in to it all.

The doctors will be able to tell more when they get the results of the biopsy. I can understand that waiting can be stressful so try if you can to take one day at a time and don't over think it all for now.

It is good to hear that all your other tests did not show anything worrying.

I do hope that you know more soon.

if you would like to speak to one of the helpline nurses then you are welcome to give us a call.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    All the best,

    Catherine

  • Thank you so much for your reply x

all the symptoms I have had since the beginning of aug and still no answers.
the gynaecologist said that the biopsy was so painful because my uterus is sore and swollen, do you have any idea why that may be?
He also said that my swollen stomach and feeling full very easily are not related to my ovaries issue which has only confused me as three dr up until not have said it’s all connected. I guess he knows best but like you said it’s the waiting, I’m exhausted! And now because of the biopsy I can hardly walk without horrid groin pain :(

I have to take my son to school and pick him up and that’s a round trip of around an hour walk twice a day… fun being a woman x

  • Hi Brighton Girl and thanks for getting back

Sit tight for now and try not to let your thoughts run away with themselves. Hopefully you will start feeling better in yourself in the next couple of days.

It is very unnerving not knowing what is causing symptoms but hopefully now the biopsy has been done you will get some answers soon.

Do look after yourself the best you can and I wish you all the best.

You know where we are if you need us and you are welcome to call us on 0808 800 4040 weekdays 9-5 if you prefer.

    Take care
