I have had my 4th round of chemo and now have a viral infection. I am taking pain killers of paracetamol but they don’t seem to take the pain away. Why not?

Hello and thanks for posting,
I am sorry to hear about your viral infection. Unfortunately, aches and pains can be quite notable during a viral infection. Sometimes painkillers will help to a degree, and other measures such as keeping warm or using warm wheat bag packs can help soothe. Distraction techniques can help, such as listening to music or radio. Do speak with your GP/hospital doctor or pharmacist. Short term use of codeine can help too. This can be prescribed or available at a pharmacy at a lower dose.
I hope you feel better soon.
