Stage 4 Womb Cancer

I was diagnosed in June with stage 4 womb cancer. I had 5 rounds of radiotherapy and have just had my 4th round of chemotherapy (I’ll be having 6 in total). I had a CT scan and received the results the end of last week. It showed that one nodule has got a little bigger but all the others have got smaller. I’m just wondering how worried (or not) should I be? Is it normal to get a mixed result like this?

  • Hello and thanks for posting.

I'm sorry you are going through a lot at the moment.

Getting mixed results from a CT scan during cancer treatment can be confusing and worrying but it's not all that uncommon. Cancer can respond to treatment in different ways. Some areas may shrink faster while others may take more time.

Doctors usually look at the whole picture including how you are feeling and coping with the treatment, and how the majority of the cancer is responding. They may suggest further treatment or adjust the current treatment plan to target the nodule that got bigger.

Your healthcare team are better placed to advise you further on this as they are familiar with all your medical details. If you have a specialist nurse (CNS) involved in your care then perhaps they can provide you with further information. You often have to call and leave them a message and they will get back to you.

I hope this reply helps a little. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,
