Womb cancer

I went for an ultrasound last Friday for PMB

The sonographer said that he didn't see anything too concerning and gave me a letter about a hysteroctomy and that my endo thickness is 6mm  and I would be referred onwards

I have just logged onto the NHS app as I'm waiting the referral and I thought it would be here by now

And this is showing under appointments

URGENT SUSPECTED CANCER - GYNAECOLOGICAL MASS

I am now petrified what they have found and feel totally sick with worry

I'm 54

  • Is this something they usually write, can they see masses on ultrasounds

  • Hello and thanks for posting

There can be many reasons for post menopausal bleeding and you can more about this on the  NHS website.

Doctors usually refer post-menopausal women who experience vaginal bleeding urgently to the hospital for further investigations as cancer becomes a bit more of a possibility just because all cancers get more common as we age. So it is taken seriously and properly looked into but it can also have nothing to do with cancer.

Waiting to find out more is very stressful and it is natural for people to go through a series of emotions whilst waiting. Do talk to your family and friends about how you are feeling so they can support you. Some people find keeping busy and the mind on other things can also help.

I hope everything turns out to be okay. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
