Anesthetic problems

After recent surgery under anesthetic I am totally wiped out with fatigue. I also have a sore throat and lungs feel wheezy and producing mucus. I presume from the breathing tube inserted into windpipe.

Will these symptoms resolve on their own?

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry you're feeling this way following your surgery.

It's quite common to feel fatigued. Your body has been through a lot during surgery. Having a sore throat, and wheezing with mucus is also quite common after being under general anaesthesia and having a breathing tube inserted during surgery.

These symptoms will gradually resolve over time on their own. In the meantime, drink plenty of fluids as this can soothe your throat.

I hope things improve for you soon. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
