Child with ALL - any clinical trial for CAR-T cell therapy?

We have a relative, boy 10 yo non UK citizenship, with ALL failed remission. We’re wondering if there is a clinical trial in the UK for CAR-T cell therapy that might accept him.

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I can appreciate your interest in clinical trials for your relative.

In most UK trials a sizeable component of the health care costs are paid by our National Health Service (NHS), so if someone isn’t eligible for free NHS treatment, there could be considerable health care costs. It can also be difficult for patients from overseas to join trials in the UK. They would need to be eligible and ultimately the chief investigator (doctor running the trial) decides whether they can take referrals from abroad. We have further information about this on our website for people outside of the UK

We also have some general information about coming to the UK for treatment which you may find helpful.

There is 1 UK trial listed on our UK website. Their doctor would need to read it and then advise further as to the suitability. We can be contacted for trial team details if applicable.

There is also an international clinical trials database called https://clinicaltrials.gov/ which may help you find a trial closer to home. There is also a European

clinical trials database which you can search.

I’m sorry I can’t be more specific but hope this information is of some use.

    Best wishes,

    Vanda
