Hi,
I've been on hormone therapy for advanced prostate cancer since December and in March started gaining weight around my middle.
It has become uncomfortable when I wear certain clothes and slouch about on the sofa??
Is this normal

Hi Colesy and thank you for your post.
I am sorry to hear about your gain in weight and appreciate it can be a worry.
Hormone therapy treatments can have potential side effects. Unfortunately weight gain can be a problem with hormone treatment. Trying to exercise regularly and monitoring what you eat can help. You may find it helpful to read the information on our website about the effects of hormone treatment.
Prostate Cancer UK also have a page on diet and physical activity to try and help with weight gain.
You might want to consider joining a support group called Tackle. It is a patient-led charity for men with prostate cancer. There are groups across the country, or you can even start your own. Talking to other men who have undergone similar treatments can be really helpful. They may have tips on how to deal with common side effects like weight gain.
Please discuss this with your GP or hospital specialist as they should be aware of any treatment side effects and maybe able to give you more advice.
I hope your symptoms settle down soon.
Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Kind regards,
Tina
