Lung cancer

I was diagnosed with lung cancer in June 2023 and underwent chemo and radiotherapy and was told the tumour on the lung had shrunk from 32mm to 9.9mm finished radio just before Christmas next appointment wasn't till July I was then told the cancer had spread and I now had two tumours on my liver and a tumour on my spine .Started chemo very strong dose and immunotherapy in July  found it very difficult to cope with.I also have a small tumour on my other lung and a mass on my kidney which is being monitored.I am now wondering if it is worthwhile carrying on with treatment or to let nature take its course

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry to read about your situation.

It's difficult for us to answer your question about stopping treatment or what may or may not happen next  as we are not involved in your clinical care. .

Your specialist team are better placed to advise you as they are familiar with all your medical details, If you have a  lung specialist nurse involved in your care then perhaps they can provide you with further information. You often have to call and leave them a message and they will get back to you.

I wonder what support you have and if you have a Macmillan or palliative care nurse involved in your care. Their area of expertise is in the management of cancer symptoms as well as supporting you and the family with the emotional effects of cancer.  They can liaise with the GP ensuring that any symptoms are managed. If do not have access to a Macmillan or palliative care nurse your GP can arrange this if you would like them involved in your care.

I hope this helps. Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
