I am so sorry to hear about your daughter this must be an extremely difficult time waiting to find out more.

For a very urgent referral for a suspected brain tumour a child should be seen by a specialist within 48 hours. After the referral it is up to the specialist to organise the scan based on their assessment. It is difficult for us to say how long the wait will be for a scan without knowing all the circumstances. Do talk to the specialist at the hospital about how long this is likely to be.

Hello, thank you for replying and for your advice. So today the hospital have called me and asked me to take my little girl in tomorrow morning for appointment. I asked if it would be the scan but they said this wouldn't be done in clinic, so I'm unsure what this will be? Does anyone know if it would just be a general chat or some other kind of test? It is good to hear your daughter is going to be seen by the paediatrician. They will be able to assess her and possible run some other tests if they think necessary. A Neurological test using lights and reflux instruments may be carried out but these don't cause any pain or discomfort to the patient. We have some more information about tests used to diagnose a brain tumour.

From this appointment the doctor will be able to decide what needs to happen next.

Try not to over think this for now and take things one step at a time. There are many different things that can cause symptoms and many of them won't be found to be cancer.
