Some more info please

Good afternoon,

I am looking for some advice please, I cannot get. GP appointment until the middle of October, so I just wanted to reach out.
I have been experiencing horrific night sweats for a while now. It happens most nights, I will wake up completely wet through. My bedding and clothes will be drenched. I’ve also started feeling nauseous and not wanting to eat. When I’m laying on my back, I get a discomfort in my chest, towards the back. However the pain isn’t always there. So it isn’t something that is consistent. Most days I do feel well. Not sure what to do. I’m a 37yr old female and also have type 1 diabetes.

thank you

  • Hi ClarkP, and thank you for posting,

I am sorry to learn that you are having symptoms that are causing you concern.

I am afraid we cannot say what is the cause of the night sweats but there can be several causes, such as hormone changes. There is more information on the NHS website.

You have done the right thing by making an appointment, it is only a doctor who can assess you, refer you for any necessary tests, and make a diagnosis. If you find the discomfort in the chest becomes worse and more persistent then do contact your GP again or NHS 111 for quick medical advice.

Please feel free to get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care, all the best,

    Jemma
