Yes a very small number of positive fit tests actually turn out to be cancer.
Yes very much so but at the same time its good that you are getting it all checked ,it will put your mind to rest ,the nurses aren't back in until Monday .
I have just had the same and await colonoscopy. Have you received a date as yet for yours.

Hello and thank you for posting.
A positive bowel screening (FIT) can be for many reasons. Inflammatory Bowel Disease, constipation, polyps, and Crohns as well as anal tears or haemorrhoids are just some of the reasons for blood in poo. When a certain level of blood is found further investigation, usually a colonoscopy appointment, is triggered to find the cause of the blood.
Once you have been investigated they will know why you have had this result. In the meantime, although it can be difficult to wait for answers, do keep yourself busy if you can.
Take care and if you find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline the number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040. The lines are open from 9am till 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Sarah.
