Basal Cell Carcinoma

Hello.  I’m aware this is a tiny issue compared to the concerns other members of this forum may have.  I was recently diagnosed with BCC on the back of my hand and as NHS waits are very long locally, I expect I will live with it for some time.  My problem is it itches and burns like crazy.  Is there anything I can safely put on it to soothe it please? Thanks in anticipation.

  • Hello l have had two BCC removed in the past two years, very itchy but l used Sudocream it’s safe and stops immflamation and itchiness. Give it a try.

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry you are experiencing itching and burning from a BCC in your hand.

Do speak with your GP, and see what they suggest. They may be able to prescribe particular skin creams, maybe a steroid one, that will help with the itching.

Some people find using a moisturising liquid (emollient), such as aqueous cream, E45 or Diprobase, prescribed by your doctor or nurse. You might have to try a few creams before finding one that works well for you. If one cream doesn’t help, ask your doctor if you can try something else

I hope you get some relief soon. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
