Back pain with sclc

Hi my husband has just finished chemotherapy and radiotherapy for sclc, (cancer was inbetween his lymph nodes) we haven’t had the report of the scan yet but the oncologist seems to think it’s worked and the small bit we can still see on the xray is scarring, my husband has ended up with a damaged heart due to the chemotherapy which has caused tia and it’s only working at 25% now, so we are now concentrating on his heart, but he’s starting to suffer with back ache again , could this mean the cancer has spread or could it be down to the problems with his heart?

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I can understand your concern. However, there can be many different explanations for back ache. So, it isn't possible to hazard a guess at this point.

Your husband should ask his hospital team or his GP to assess him. They may suggest a scan to find out more. He may benefit from a physiotherapy referral if it turns out to be a back related issue.

I am sorry that we cannot be  more specific on this occasion and hope that you are able to find out more soon,
