Fatigue after Radiotherapy

Hello there . My partner finished chemo over 10 weeks ago but is still very fatigued. He is sleeping about 20 hours a day and eating very little. I'm most concerned, he is ashen and has  muscle wastage. Is this normal . It was for Prostate cancer.

  • Hello Mosedale40 and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about your partners situation, this must be difficult to see him like this.

Chemotherapy affects people in different ways and whilst most patients will start to feel better a few weeks after the last cycle some side effects can last much longer. We have a section of information about side effects of chemotherapy on our website.

However I think that it is worth mentioning how your partner is to his specialist team or GP as they may wish to run some bloods to make sure everything is okay and there isn't anything else causing this.

I hope he starts to turn a positive corner soon.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
