  • Hello EZ77 and thanks for the post,

I am sorry to hear about your situation.

Basal Cell Carcinomas (BCC) are the most common type of skin cancer that are slow growing and don't tend to spread.

There are different types of treatment to treat BCC but if a doctor thinks it needs to be surgically removed and in the case of when it is on the face a referral to the plastic surgery team is usual (isn't uncommon.) to preserve your appearance.

At the appointment, the surgeon will assess the abnormal area and discuss with you the plan of what needs to happen next.

I hope this helps, please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
