  • Hello Dakini and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about your Aunt's husband's situation, this must be a difficult time for all the family.

It is important your Aunt has the opportunity to speak with the specialist doctor involved in her husbands care to get a better understanding of the situation.

At the moment it sounds like the doctors are doing all they can to try and stabilise his condition. However asking what the plan is next in the short and longer term. Are there further tests they can run to find out more about what they are dealing with is another good question to ask.

Unfortunately every patient as well as their cancer is different in the way that it grows and behaves. Therefore often doctors need to run a series of in depth tests to help them understand what type of cancer this is and what the best treatment is.

Even under the umbrella term Non Hodgkins Lymphoma which we have more information about on our website, there are different types and grades of this cancer. The way one NHL behaves and is managed will be different to another type and only the team looking after your Aunt's husband can give the finer details once they know.

I hope this is helpful in some way.

Please get back to us if you need or your Aunt needs any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes,

    Naomi
