Received an appointment for 30 th September

I received a letter today with an appointment for 30th sept

with thyroid surgeon

I phoned ent to see if they would give me the results but she said no

they will discuss it but it can’t be serious if I have to wait so long for a routine appointment so why can’t they just give me results it’s very frustrating .

  • Hello and thanks for posting

Individual hospitals vary in the way their patients receive their results. We are aware that the NHS is under huge pressures due to staff shortages. People can wait several weeks to be seen and get their results.

I don't think anyone can presume that because they have to wait a few weeks that everything is okay. Hopefully, everything will be, but you will need the specialist team to confirm this for sure.

You could try and contact the hospital and ask if you could go on a cancellation list and they may contact you if a slot suddenly becomes available at short notice. But I’m afraid this is not guaranteed.

In the meantime the patient.info website has some information on how to ease worry when waiting for medical test results that may be useful to read.

I hope everything turns out to be okay. Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
