Lung cancer

Hi I have not long been diagnosed and had surgery for large cell Neuroendocrine tumour at the beginning of July.is that me classed as not having cancer now,I’m confused. I have still to be checked for every 12 weeks then every 6 months for a while. I just don’t what I’m classed as now .

    I'm sorry to read about your situation and it's understandable to feel confused about what this means for you now.

    With any type of cancer after successful treatment there is a possibility that it could come back. Doctors often use the word 'remission' rather than cure which means that as far as they can detect it, the cancer has gone, but from what is currently known, they can't predict how the cancer will behave in the future.

    This is why you will be monitored. The aim of your follow up appointments is to check how you are and see whether you have any problems or worries. 

    There is a support charity called  Neuroendocrine Cancer UK ( NETs) who support people affected by neuroendocrine tumours.
