Lymphoma’s

My 18 yr old has just had a ct scan and it’s likely it’s lymphoma. He is having biopsy tomorrow. We are devastated

  • Hello Janelouise

I'm sorry to hear that your son is facing a possible cancer diagnosis. Undoubtedly this will have been incredibly difficult news for you all to hear and natural that you have concerns and questions.

We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be hard. Hopefully after tomorrow's biopsy the specialists looking after your son will have all the information they need to give a clear diagnosis and you won't have to wait too long before they can give you some answers and reassurance about the treatment plan.

Our nurses will respond to your post as soon as they are able to but in the meantime, if it would help to talk things through with one of them, they are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can along with helping you think about any questions that you might want to ask the specialist doctors.

We will be thinking of you all tomorrow and over the coming days. Keep in touch Janelouise and let us know how you're managing. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello JaneLouise and thank you for your post

I am sorry to hear your son is currently having some tests carried out for a suspected lymphoma.

This of course must be such a worrying and difficult time for you all but try for now to take things one step at a time.

I am sure the doctors are doing all they can to get a definite diagnosis as soon as possible but I appreciate how time can seem to drag whilst waiting for answers.

Sit tight for now and see what the results show before searching for more information. It is so important to only look at the relevant information about a cancer. There is so much information about the different types and stages of a cancer and this will change what a diagnosis means for each patient. Therefore waiting to hear from the doctor what the matter is really the right thing to do.

I hope you know more soon.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

Wishing you son all the best

    Take care

    Naomi
