Recovery after BCC surgery

Hi

I had a bcc removed from my forehead on Friday morning. It was fairly small and just needed straightforward excision and stitching, ie no skin flap etc. I have been resting since then and taking pain killers as needed. I’m just wondering about when to go back to work. At the hospital they suggested having off anywhere between 3-4 days to a week post-surgery. I can work from home and my work is mainly computer based. Because of the position of my bcc, at the hospital they advised me to avoid leaning forward/looking down to avoid pressure on the stitches. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm glad that your BCC procedure went well.

I see that you've been given some good advice from the hospital. As they have advised you not to not lean forward or look down as it can put a strain on your stitches, it's important to have a comfortable workspace.

It's a good idea to keep your computer screen at eye level so you are not looking down. You can do this by raising your monitor or using a laptop stand. This should help reduce pressure on your forehead. Make sure you take regular breaks, stand up and gently stretch.

I hope this helps. Give us a ring if you want to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,
