Travel insurance. Have been told I may have cancer. Do I need to change it?

I have a holiday booked in just over a week and had paid for travel insurance. Since booking my holiday and getting insurance, I have been told I may have cancer and am awaiting tests to confirm one way or another. Do I need to change my travel insurance given that I have no definitive results yet?

  • Hello Alidee and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear you are currently undergoing some tests and appreciate this must be an anxious time for you.

Whilst you may be keen to go on holiday whilst you are waiting for the results to distract your mind from all of this, it is probably best to let your travel insurance know you are undergoing investigation at the moment.

The reason being if you were to become unwell whilst away and you hadn't told them about this, your insurance policy may not be covered.

    I hope this helps.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

Wishing you all the best and hope you are able to enjoy your holiday

    Take care
