My dad has not long since been diagnosed with bowel cancer, he has his operation on the 20th to remove it and all his lymph nodes in his abdomen. The lymph nodes will be sent off to see if any cells. How long does this normally take?
I'm sorry to read about your dad's diagnosis. This must be a very difficult time for you both.
It can take a couple of weeks or so to get results back. However, this can vary depending on the demands of the hospital. Your dad's doctors should be able to give him some idea on when his results will be back.
Waiting on results can be really stressful but knowing them will help the doctors decide if further treatment is needed.
