  • Hello and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to hear that yuo are going through cancer treatment for a brain tumour. This must be a difficult time for you.

Your specialist team will have recommended the best treatment for you based on years of research.  As is the case for many treatments, there can be side effects, but most, if not all, will be short-lived, get better and go after the treatment has finished.

The type of chemotherapy you will be given will depend on the type of brain tumour you have, you will get more specific information from your team. In the meantime, you can see information about the different types of chemotherapy and their side effects on our website.

We have information about radiotherapy and its side effects on our website.

Looking at the two side effects you mention. I think it is fair to say that many people feel tired when having both these types of treatment. However,  tiredness affects people differently. Being sick does not happen to most people. This is because you will be given anti-sickness medication that works, if it does not then there are other types to have.

I think it is fair to say that you will not know how the treatment will affect you until you have had it.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
