Lung cancer - coughing

My husband has terminal lung cancer , had it for 10 months , no treatment, suddenly started having coughing which really runs him down.  Is this common , and is there anything other than use his Salbutamal inhaler that could help to ease it?  It makes him very anxious.

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to hear about your husband's symptoms.

There are other medications such as codeine linctus, or methadone liquid which can help with this. They would need to be prescribed.

Do contact his GP, and maybe consider asking a referral, (if this is not in place already), to the local community palliative care team. They can advise and work with the GP on difficult symptoms. This team can help with people with advanced cancer, and not just right at end of life care.

    I hope this helps,
