Bleeding between periods can have a number of different causes and you can read about them on the NHS website. It sounds like your doctor has taken your symptoms seriously as you've had some tests to try and establish the cause.

It's not uncommon to be referred to the colposcopy unit if a standard smear test couldn't  be completed due to pain or difficulty. The colposcopy unit has specialised equipment and more experienced staff who can help make the process easier and more comfortable for you. This doesn't mean that anything is particularly wrong, it's just a way to ensure that you get the care you need without unnecessary discomfort.

I’m not sure if you are getting support to help manage your anxiety . Do speak to your doctor about this when you get the chance. You can also take a look at the NHS website Every Mind Matters on coping with anxiety and look at their useful tips for getting by.
