Really, really worried.

It seems I have microscopic traces of blood in my urine.

The doctor took a sample today.  I am on prednisone for PMR and just wondered if this could have caused it ?

I also have had a little bout of cystitis recently, but even so my GP seems to think I could need a referral for investiagion.

As if that isn't enough to worry about my husband has been diagnosed recently with prostrate cancer and is undergoing treatment for this.

worry worry worry.

  • Hello skygirl and thanks for your post,

I am sorry that you have so much on your plate at the moment.

GP's have guidelines when patient's present with even a small amount of blood in the urine. You may find it helpful to look at the guidelines written by The British Association of Urologists (Baus) about blood in the urine

The blood in the urine may well have been caused by your infection but it is always a good idea that anything serious is ruled out.

I am sorry to also hear that your husband has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer and I hope the treatment is going well.

Do try and take one step at a time. It is important that you look after yourself.

If either of you would like to ring and chat to one of the helpline nurses then you are welcome to do so.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    All the best,

    Catherine
