Lymph Nodes

Hi my daughter (15yrs) is currently being tested for lymphoma.

We are due a biopsy next Tuesday but have noticed the gland seems bigger since it was measured on Monday (Monday 4cm today 5cm).

Is there anything I should/could do? Tuesday seems so far away but I’m also conscious that in the grand scheme of things a few days waiting won’t have a massive impact.
thanks in advance

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry your daughter is undergoing tests for a possible lymphoma diagnosis. I imagine this is a difficult time for you all.

It's not all that unusual for a lymph gland to feel slightly bigger. Sometimes this happens because of prodding it, but not always.

Most doctors would say that waiting until Tuesday to have a biopsy is unlikely to do your daughter any harm overall, but I appreciate waiting any length of time when you are worried is stressful.

In the meantime, if you feel that her symptoms are getting worse, then do discuss this with the GP.

I hope you know more about your daughter's situation soon. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
