Can anyone explain. I do not think my doctor actually can be bothered because I am 72. I had a hysterectomy when I was 35 more than 37 years ago.

You can request a mammogram. Hopefully this will put your mind at rest. Your local breast screening service should be able to help if your doctor isn't going forward on this.
