  • Hello and thank you for posting.

HRT and breast cancer patients is an area of growing interest. Far more is written about this subject than ever, whether it is offering support to those women who cannot take HRT or support with the hormonal side effects.

I have put in some links for you to be able to read around this subject, but it may be that your doctor can refer you to a menopause consultant if there is one in your area, to help with the symptoms you are getting.

The NHS has information on the site about alternatives to HRT, which includes other medications.

We have a page on coping with menopausal symptoms on our website, as does Macmillan if useful.

The British Menopausal Society has also written about the risks and benefits of HRT after a breast cancer diagnosis, which you may find interesting to read.

It may also be helpful for you to look at the Breast Cancer Now forum, life after cancer threads. Hearing and reading from other women going through similar can help you feel not so alone in this situation.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9 am till 5 pm Monday to Friday.

    Sarah.
