Lump in breast

I have had a small pea sized lump in my breast for years. Breast has become painful lately, lump seems the same but the doc I saw said it appears to have regular edges and he said it is t a fibrodema or a cyst. He said he can’t reassure me it’s nothing serious and is sending me for a scan within 2 weeks. I am now concerned as I have had it checked before and nothing has been mentioned about irregular edges before. Ive had  it checked previously by female doctors who have always reassured me it is ok even as recent as last autumn.

I am 37 with two children and very frightened now.

  • Hello Cath, and thank you for posting.

I am sorry you are worried about an appointment at the breast clinic. Unfortunately, no one can offer any reassurance as it is only by examination and investigation that they will be able to say exactly what this lump is.

Your doctor thinks that this is a non-cancerous lump, but unfortunately, you will have to wait for a more accurate explanation, I appreciate that the waiting is incredibly hard.

Take care Cath, and if you find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline the number is Freephone 0808 800 4040. The lines are open from 9 am till 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

    Sarah.
