Worry whether I should take a sleeping tablet whilst living with cancer
Hi, I’ve been taking a sleeping tablet while I’m on chemotherapy and I still struggle to sleep but when I do I average about 4 hours, It’s worth trying even if it just helps you get a few hours sleep.
Thanks Pablo I have decided to take a small dose sleeping tablet each night.
Your welcome, hope it helps
Hello and thanks for posting
Insomnia is fairly common in some people. It is often caused by the side effects of treatment or by worry and anxiety about their condition. It usually improves over time.
Sleeping pills are usually prescribed for short term use. They not usually recommended for people on a long term basis and often people struggling with insomnia are encouraged to adopt other self care measures and therapies.
In the meantime, we have some useful tips on things you can try to help improve your sleep pattern.
I hope this helps. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
