I am dead worried I looked on my nhs app and saw a abnormal fecal test I did that I sent of its come back abnormal what will happen now I am 54 my mum dies of bowel cancer at 71 any advise would be great thanks
The FIT (poo test) checks for microscopic blood. There can be many reasons for this other than cancer but often when this is picked up it will be investigated further, just to make sure nothing more serious is going on.
Try and contact your doctor when you can to ask more about this and what will happen next.
Do remember that most people who are referred for a 'suspected cancer' won't go on to be diagnosed, so take things one step at a time for now.
